Top 10 most watched videos of 2022

Our video viewers just can’t get enough of LandCruisers and Best awards

When it comes to the most popular of about 200 videos we published in 2022, there’s just one standout: the Toyota LandCruiser.

In fact it’s not just the new 300 Series you lot are keen to view, but the ‘old’ 70 Series too – closely followed by our popular Best award series, led unsurprisingly by videos covering our top picks in the ute and SUV segments.

1. Toyota LandCruiser Sahara ZX 2022 Video Review

We published reams of news about the all-new Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series in the lead-up to its hotly anticipated Australian release in late 2021, and since then we’ve tested all variants – both on-road and off – and undertook two comparisons.

But the LandCruiser video you watched most, making it the most popular video of 2022, was our review on the flagship Sahara ZX – the $138K range-topper of the 300 Series line-up.

2. Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series Wagon 2022 Video Review

Underlining its incredible bandwidth, a very different LandCruiser was the subject of our second most viewed video this year – the 70 Series wagon, even before the utilitarian workhorse range received yet another upgrade to keep waiting lists long despite its near-40-year lifespan.

6. carsales Best Dual-Cab 4x4 Ute 2022: The verdict

7. carsales Best Mid-Size SUV 2021: The verdict

The market dominance of medium SUVs was again underlined by the fact our Best Mid-Size SUV verdict video from 2021 remained out seventh most watched video in 2022.

8. carsales Best Off-Road SUV 2022: The verdict

Interest in adventure machines has never been greater and the great number of you who clicked on our Best Off-Road SUV verdict video reflects that. Can you guess which model was good enough to topple the LandCruiser 300 Series?

9. carsales Best Small Car 2021: The verdict

It might be a shrinking market segment, but there’s plenty of interest left in traditional small cars, as evidenced by our verdict video for last year’s Best Small Cars award making this year’s top 10 list.
