Our automotive advice articles may not be as popular as our reviews or as glamourous as our videos, but their reader engagement is through the roof – and one lengthy document in particular, our New Car Calendar, is a hugely popular page-scroller.
There was also a lot of love for our weekly Your Questions Answered column and our What You Need to Know series, not to mention our regular Saturday bargain-finder, Deal Hunter, plus used-car buying guides and DIY advice.
Here are the five most widely-read advice articles of 2023.
Updated regularly, our future model diary is based on official announcements, intel gathered by our news hounds and a small dose of educated crystalballing. It may sound about as exciting as wet cardboard, but it’s the most accurate list of upcoming model release dates in the industry. So whether it’s a future model you’re waiting for or you’re keen to avoid buying a soon-to-be-superseded vehicle, our NCC lists pretty much every single model we know is coming to Australia and when. And readers are mad for it!

The Toyota HiLux is one of the most searched-for make/models on carsales and as buyers continue to seek details on upcoming new models, this advice piece from late 2022 was the second most-read story in 2023.

The third most popular advice piece in 2023 was another instalment of our regular YQA column, this time answering a question regarding the potential fuel range of the upcoming new 2024 Toyota Prado. If it’s a new Toyota, it’s hot stuff.

As emissions regulations continue to push big-bore sports cars into early retirement, readers are clearly keen to know what options are on the table – and especially at affordable prices. Who wants a 2006 BMW 550i? Everybody, it seems.

And yet another Toyota was the subject of our fifth most popular advice article in 2023 – despite being published back in March 2021 – this time covering the minutiae of the diesel V8-powered Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series, which became hot property before and after the release of the V6-only 300 Series in early 2022.
