Top five Carpool stories of 2019

2019 was well and truly a vintage year for weird car-related stories.

For the uninitiated, Carpool is the carsales lifestyle and pop-culture destination. A place where we cover everything from road trips, car hacks, accessories and gadgets to the quirkiest car-related stories you’ll read online.

And 2019 was a big year for Carpool. Indeed, many stories caught the attention of our readers, but the five most popular Carpool articles were *drumroll please*…

5. The seven car care sins we’re all guilty of

This article really piqued the interest for many readers, and also proved a great way to shame your mates on socials about those annoying car care jobs we try to avoid at all costs. We listed the seven most dreaded car care tasks that we need to stop avoiding at once.

4. Why I decided to face my fear of driving a manual car

A popular personal story from one of our junior team members here at carsales. Everyone has an opinion on whether or not new drivers should learn in a manual when they first hit the road. Facing the fear of driving a manual car after a few years of the automatic life is certainly a tall tale with a few change in gears along the way.

3.  The world’s weirdest road rules

Aussies love a good road rule and love reading about them just as much. So we collated some of the weirdest, wackiest and wonderfully obscure road rules and regulations from around the world. One of our favourites come from San Francisco where it is illegal to clean your windscreen with a dirty pair of underpants.

2. KFC has opened a world first drive thru in Australia and the future is well and truly here

A finger lickin' good story took the site by storm in the back end of 2019, the world’s first drive-thru only KFC! Whether you’re on a road trip, driving home from work or just couldn’t be bothered to leave the comfort of your car to collect dinner, the drive-thru has been a staple of Aussie fast food meal decisions for decades. And this latest meal delivery concept from the Colonel has a hint of The Jetsons about it.

1. Hyundai teams up with Stark Industries for new Kona Iron Man editon

Our most read Carpool story of the year was well and truly the closest you’ll ever get to owning your own Tony Stark style Iron Man suit. While you won’t be able to fly (which is the whole appeal of being Iron Man to be honest) at least you will be able to get from A to B in an interesting style via the Iron Man edition Hyundai Kona SUV.
