Top five celebrity Carpool stories of 2020

In 2020, we published an array of topics on Carpool, from road trip and adventures, tips and advice, quirky and pets to television, film and celebrity. The latter is always of interest, especially when we take a look at some of the interesting endorsements, activities and personal car collections they curate.

Here are five of the top trending celebrity stories of the year.

Byron Bay-based model and entrepreneur Elyse Knowles is known for her beach blonde hair, her time as a contestant on reality TV renovation show The Block and a love of the great outdoors – chances are she’s barefoot exploring the great outdoors as you read this – Knowles loves a road trip. 4. Mr Bean and Jamiroquai’s classic cars for sale via virtual auction in the UK

COVID-19 was no obstacle for a British car auction house as they moved to virtual sales of their cars, including a few classics from the likes of comedic actor Rowan Atkinson and pop singer Jamiroquai. Among the classics up for auction were Atkinson’s personal 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E and Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay’s 1972 BMW 1602 and 1976 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow.

3. Top 10 greatest automotive icons of TV and film according to fans

A survey commissioned in the UK asked 2000 car lovers hard hitting questions about the best car films and the best automotive screen icons of all time. Always a hotly contested subject, this top 10 list really divided readers especially with who took at the top spot. While Steve McQueen is known as The King of Cool thanks to his effortless style and tough guy persona, that seemed to be no match for Jeremy Clarkson’s dedication to stone-wash denim and the grumpy man persona in this survey putting him on top.

2. Lewis Hamilton’s latest career move is not what you’d expect

Mercedes-AMG F1 champion Lewis Hamilton has been known to be a party boy and wannabe Hollywood star for almost as long as his racing career itself. So it came as no surprise that the racer decided to follow his dreams and dip his toe into the world of music. The 35-year-old took to his Instagram Stories in late July to reveal to his 18.4 million followers his musical identity, XNDA.
