What’s a year in review without a look back at celebrities, television and film?

In 2022, we’ve published an array of topics on Carpool, from road trips and adventures, tips and advice, pets and the just plain quirky, to television, film and celebrity.

The latter is always of interest, especially when we take a look at some of the interesting endorsements, activities and personal car collections they curate. Not to mention the number of things that went up for auction!

5. You can now do a wine shoey with the Daniel Ricciardo Decanter

Zoinks! Can you believe that it’s been twenty years since Scooby, Shaggy and the crew solved the Spooky Island mystery in the franchise’s first live-action film? To celebrate the anniversary, Shaggy himself, A.K.A. actor Matthew Lillard fired up the Mystery Machine once more for a new mission, serving as an Airbnb Host in the gang’s iconic van.

Move over Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld, there's a new group of celebrity car collectors in town. Hollywood's rich and famous do love a car collection or two and while there’s always been attention on the men who collect cool cars, did you know some of the biggest celebs in the world are woman who love their cars just as much?

2. Princess Diana’s Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 1 just sold at auction for $1.23m

The unique black Ford Escort RS Turbo, driven by Princess Diana went on sale at Silverstone Auctions in the UK on August 27th with ‘No Reserve’ and sold for £722,500 ($1.23 million). Just like the Princess herself, this car has a storied past and is believed to be the first and only black RS Turbo Series 1 ever made.

1. Rapper Post Malone’s Bugatti Chiron is up for sale

Austin Richard Post, better known as Post Malone (with hits including Rockstar, Better Now and Sunflower) put his 2019 Bugatti Chiron hypercar up for sale. The all-white Bugatti packs a punch with its quad-turbocharged 8.0-litre W16 engine that pumps out an extraordinary 1,103kw of power.
