Top Gear: Chris Harris and Sabine Schmitz announced as new co-presenters

Chris Evans' reboot of the world famous BBC car show will return with YouTube star and German race-car driver. F1’s David Coulthard also along for the ride

BBC Top Gear has announced its new line-up up to replace Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.

The new series, which begins in May 2016, will be hosted by chat show host Chris Evans, former Autocar journalist and YouTube star Chris Harris and German race car driver Sabine Schmitz, according to British newspaper The Sun.

Ex-Formula 1 star David Coulthard will also serve as Evans' sidekick when the show returns, says the newspaper.

The news of the new co-hosts coincides with turbulent times for the remake of the BBC car series post-Clarkson.

Earlier this week, Evans announced that the series had lost its second executive producer, Lisa Clark, just months to go before Top Gear returns on May 5.

Clark has replaced Andy Wilman after he jumped ship to go work with Clarkson, May and Hammond on their new Amazon Prime TV show.

Clark said she parted company with Top Gear to work on “new projects”.
