Fiat UK surveyed 2000 people about the types of driving habits and behaviours that were absolute turnoffs and potentially relationship-ending. The survey found that more than a third (40%) said that they suffered from ‘the ick’ when they’re in relationships, with 74% of those subsequently breaking up with a partner because of these deal-breaking habits.
The term “the ick” shot to prominence thanks to TV dating show Love Island, a term used to describe the moment you stop being attracted to someone which usually occurs in the early stages of a relationship. Usually due to an individual doing something either disturbing or annoying.
The study identified the 15 most common car-related icks with tailgating, road rage and vehicles filled with stuffed toys topping the ick list.
Some of the more amusing and bizarre actions that led to ‘the ick’ included driving with gloves, stopping too far away from a ticket machine at a car park or toll road and having windscreen wipers on their fastest mode when it is only drizzling.
