The Australasian New Car Assessment Program, or ANCAP, has released the crash-test and safety analysis results of three new SUVs today, the Audi Q7, Honda HR-V and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
All of three of them managed the highest rating possible, five-stars, a positive result says ANCAP CEO James Goodwin, as it gives motorists greater choice and confidence when buying.
“With ever increasing numbers of people buying SUVs it’s good to see more vehicles in that category obtaining a five-star result so that consumers have greater choice when it comes to buying a safer vehicle,” said Goodwin.
The Audi Q7, a large SUV, has been a highly-rated vehicle by our road testers and now scores a five-star rating. Although it's an expensive vehicle, starting at $103,900, ANCAP praised the standard fitment of autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistance systems.
Honda's HR-V, a small-sized SUV that starts at $24,990, was hailed for "performing well in the structural [crash] tests," said Goodwin. That top-spec models are offered with advanced driver aids, such as AEB and lane keeping alerts, were also cited as positives.
After being crash-tested, the all-new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, a large family SUV and successor to the Challenger, was described as "a significant safety improvement over the model it replaces and provides consumers in the large 4WD segment with another five star-choice,” said Goodwin.
