Topless Regie rounds out range

Renault Australia has opened up its new-generation Mégane range with a new CC

Aimed at the chic, Renault's new generation Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet is now on sale Down Under. Priced from $45,990, the folding hard-top Regie is offered in one equipment grade only (Dynamique) and is powered by a 103kW/195Nm Euro 5-compliant 2.0-litre DOHC petrol powerplant matched to a constantly variable automatic transmission.

Renault claims the CC's folding hardtop was designed by cabrio specialist Karmann and can be opened or stowed in just 21 seconds. Unlike some other hardtops, the Mégane features a glazed roof. Renault promises a "light filled cabin".

Renault claims the new CC has been designed and built with special attention to minimising noise, vibration and harshness.

"Renault has taken a wholesale approach to refining the driving experience of the new Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet, by finessing areas that could produce squeaks and rattles, buzzes and bumps, as well as working to minimise idling noises which sometimes can intrude into the cabin when stationary with the roof lowered," the company's release stated.

The new Renault Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet was launched alongside its hatch, sedan and Renault Sport stablemates this week in Melbourne.

The new CC is larger than the model it replaces and rides on a longer wheelbase than its five-door hatch sibling. In comparison to the outgoing Megane CC, the new four-seater is 130mm longer overall and gets an 87mm stretch between the wheels. Renault states the new car "offers a meaningful increase in interior space".

Detailed changes see the front screen and windscreen header moved forward (60mm) to deliver easier access to the car and a more open feeling. A fixed glass wind deflector is unique in the segment, says Renault. An additional mesh deflector screen can be clipped into place over the back seats if the rear seats are not in use.

Boot capacity is 417 litres in Coupé mode and 211 litres when the roof is stowed. Renault says a best in class measurement (258mm of height) is available in the boot with the roof stowed.

Standard equipment includes keyless entry and engine start, integrated satnav, streaming Bluetooth audio and hands-free, Arkamys premium audio, dual-zone climate control aircon and 17-inch alloys. Options include leather upholstery, bi-Xenon headlamps and metallic paint.
