With the upcoming Australian International Motor Show (AIMS) in Sydney barely a week away, Volkswagen has announced it will unveil a new flagship Touareg. A world premiere, the high-powered all-wheel drive is dubbed the R50.
Based on the mighty V10 TDi model, the R50 is the work of Volkswagen's Individual division. Like the hottest Golf and Passat models (more here), the Touareg wears VW's performance oriented 'R' badge with pride.
Power and torque are upped, however, the exact details are being held close to VW's corporate chest. The Carsales Network's insider at Wolfsburg suggests power will be around 20kW up on the donor car's 230. Torque is also set to be boosted. Not that the standard V10's 750Nm is anything to sneeze at.
Additional cosmetic and convenience features will be complemented by a larger wheel/tyre combination and suspension revised for added on-road sporting prowess.
Look for more details in coming days.
