Ford has introduced a new Tremor off-road pack for its 2022 Ford Maverick ute that brings more ground clearance, upgraded suspension, new hardware and a more advanced all-wheel drive system.
It's thought a development of the tough off-road pack – which is already confirmed in the US for the new Ford Ranger, Bronco Sport, Edge, Explorer, F-150 and even the Transit delivery van –could soon be offered for the new Ford Ranger in Australia.
With the US-market Maverick, the Tremor kit is only available with range-topping XLT and Lariat variants powered by the punchy 184kW 2.0-litre EcoBoost FX4 all-wheel drive powertrain.
Tick the box for the Tremor and you get a new Trail Control off-road setting that acts like a cruise control in dirt or slippery conditions, managing the throttle and braking to help the driver concentrate on steering.
There’s also new chassis hardware including tougher front and rear springs and new dampers that are said to improve off-road capability by lifting the body a further 25mm away from harm.
There's also a new heavy-duty transmission cooler and upgraded half-shafts designed to withstand more abuse off-road.
Externally, the off-road pack brings more rugged styling cues including a new grille, blacked-out Ford logos and darkened headlight and tail-light surrounds. The front and rear tow hooks are painted 'Tremor Orange'.
A separate Tremor Appearance pack is also offered in the US and it comprises a contrasting grey roof, mirror caps and unique graphics on the bonnet and lower body.
New 17-inch grey and orange wheels with all-terrain tyres are fitted, while a new lower front bumper allows for a steeper approach angle. New skid plates are said to bring enhanced protection.
Inside, there's black seat trim with Tremor logos and orange accents, while the centre console, air-vents and door pulls all also incorporate the grey and orange colour scheme.
In the US, the Ford Maverick Tremor pack costs $US2995 ($A4300), with the Tremor Appearance priced at $US1495 ($A2130), and both packs will be available to North Americans from the fourth quarter of this year.
There's no word on when Ford Australia plans to introduce the Tremor pack for the Ranger Down Under.
However, as we’ve reported, Ford is expected to release a hard-core ‘Raptor-lite’ variant of the new Ranger, positioned between the Wildtrak V6 diesel and the Raptor V6 petrol, and has also trademarked both the Tremor and Wolftrak nameplates in Australia.
