Toyota has increased the price of almost half its vehicle range in Australia, with price hikes of up to $3,000 on some models.
As of June 1st, 2009, vehicles such as the RAV4 have increased in price by between $800 and $1,000 -- depending on trim level -- while popular models such as the Corolla and Yaris small cars, the HiLux ute and the Kluger SUV have all been left unchanged since their last price increases from January 1st (2009).
Commercial vehicles, people movers, and SUVs have all been affected by the mid-year price hike, but locally made passegner cars such as the Aurion and Camry will not be affected by the price changes.
Toyota's well-known 4WDs, including the the Prado and LandCruiser (200 and 70 Series) have also risen in price by between $1,450 and $2,250 and people movers the Avensis and Tarago have also had their price-tags bumped up by $1,000 and $1,500 respectively.
Commercial vehicles like the Toyota HiAce and Coaster mini-bus models have also been affected by the mid-year price hike.
The Japanese car maker has traditionally raised prices on the January 1st date and says this new mid-year price rise, which affects more than half its passenger vehicle range, is the result of changes in the value of the Australian dollar versus the Japanese yen.
