Toyota Australia has released a special 'sport' edition of its popular Corolla hatchback.
Based on the entry-level Corolla Ascent, the limited edition model boasts $1600 worth of additional features -- including 16-inch 'blade' alloy wheels, front and rear spoilers, front fog lamps, an improved single-CD audio system with USB connectivity and Bluetooth integration, plus the obligatory 'Sport' badging -- for only $510 more than the usual price.
Corolla Ascent Sport also includes cruise control, a premium steering wheel and premium gearshift knob, while the colour palette has been expanded to eight colours with the addition of Tidal Blue from Levin SX and ZR models.
An optional safety pack is also available adding side-curtain and driver's knee airbags to Corolla Ascent's standard dual front and side airbag package for $500 extra. Like all Corolla models, the Ascent Sport features stability control and traction control as standard equipment.
In showrooms this week, Corolla Ascent Sport will be restricted to 1500 units only and is offered with a choice of both manual and automatic transmissions. Pricing starts at $22,250 for the six-speed manual transmission model.
