Toyota is taking a fresh approach to its next flagship Toyota Crown sedan – by making it an SUV.
And the Japanese car-maker has now revealed the premium Lexus-like headlight design that will feature on the 2023 Toyota Crown.
Toyota USA posted the image on Twitter overnight, showing off the tri-element LED main beams in detail while also confirming the Crown SUV’s daring two-tone paintwork via the red front quarter panel and black bonnet.

The teaser photo is accompanied by cryptic clues as to what we can expect from the premium crossover: “Innovation at its peak. More to come on 7/15. #LetsGoPlaces”.
It’s not clear if the vehicle will be revealed in full on July 15 or if the drip-feed of teaser images will continue.
However, the all-new model can be expected to deliver several advances to match its unorthodox design, including potentially a new-generation hybrid powertrain.
Expect to see cutting-edge safety and infotainment tech given the model’s lofty position at the top of the Toyota portfolio.
Set to be launched in a number of countries, including the US and Japan, the new Toyota Crown is also being considered for launch in Australia, following the discovery of the new Toyota Crown logo trademarked for our market.
We’ve had a clear look at the swoopy exterior design via recent renders based on design trademark images, and it’s fair to say Toyota is going for broke with the new Crown.
It remains to be seen if the gamble will work, given there’s more than 70 years of Toyota Crown heritage wrapped up in the luxury sedan.
But given that Toyota’s luxury brand Lexus still doesn’t have a swoopy coupe-like SUV to rival vehicles such as the BMW X6, perhaps it will be Toyota’s time to shine?
Stay tuned for more details soon.
