Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) has today confirmed that it will sell GR Supra GT4 race cars as early as next year.
Although it is yet to reveal full specifications and pricing, TGR says it has worked alongside partners including Akrapovic, Pirelli and Ravenol to develop a customer race car that will enable “motorsports-lovers around the world to freely participate in races”.
Based on the latest Toyota GR Supra, the Supra GT4 race car is developed and produced entirely by Toyota Motorsport GmbH in Germany. TGR says the car seeks to maintain the GT4 category’s ethos of being a low cost and easy to enter category.
The GT4 category is contested across the globe with eligible competitions including the Super Taikyu Series in Japan, the GT4 European Series and the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring in Europe, and the Michelin Pilot Challenge Series in the US. GT4 racers are also eligible to enter the Australian GT Championship and other series in our region.
The GR Supra already participates in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in North America and, from 2020, is scheduled to compete in the Super GT GT500 Class in Japan.
The company says the new GT4 racer will “drive valuable development feedback back to the brand”.
Full details of the Toyota GR Supra GT4 – including specifications and pricing –are scheduled to be announced later this year.
