Toyota GR Yaris Rallye priced at $55K

Toyota Australia confirms pricing for its highly sought-after GR Yaris halo model

Toyota Australia has finally confirmed pricing and allocation details for the new Toyota GR Yaris Rallye – the car-maker’s freshly anointed flagship.

Set to touch down in showrooms in March, the Toyota GR Yaris Rallye will be priced at $56,200 drive-away for the first 200 buyers.

As with the regular Toyota GR Yaris, which was initially promoted at an introductory price of $39,950 plus on-road costs for the first 1000 examples, the GR Yaris Rallye will revert to a firm recommended retail price of $54,500 (plus ORCs) thereafter.

Differentiating itself from the regular GR Yaris, which launches nationally this week, the Rallye gets a number of track-ready chassis upgrades.

The 18-inch cast alloy wheels by Enkei are swapped out for lighter, stronger forged alloy BBS rims of the same diameter, which reduce unsprung weight and improve handling, as will grippy Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.

The Toyota GR Yaris Rallye also features stiffer track-tuned suspension and a pair of Torsen limited-slip differentials for both the front and rear axle, improving power delivery at full noise, while the brakes are unchanged (save for red-painted callipers) with all-ventilated discs measuring 356mm up front and 297mm at the rear.

Power is unchanged from the donor model. That means a 1.6-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine continues to belt out 200kW and 370Nm, pumping through a six-speed manual for a 230km/h top speed and a 5.2sec 0-100km/h sprint time.

Toyota Australia sales and marketing boss Sean Hanley said the GR Yaris Rallye was designed to be an attainable everyday sports car.

“We want to excite as many fans as possible by ensuring this genuine edition model is genuinely attainable. It will come to market as a limited offer of $56,200 drive-away. Just a few thousand more than the GR Yaris’ recommended retail price plus on-road costs,” he said.

“Deliveries start in March 2021. Once that allocation is spoken for, the price of the Rallye will move to $54,500 plus on-road costs.”

The Toyota GR Yaris Rallye will be available in a solitary white colour in Australia.
