Toyota Australia has dropped the 207kW 3.5-litre petrol engine from its 2021 Toyota HiAce range as part of an update for the top-selling mid-size van range that arrives in September.
Upgrades have also been ushered in for the 2021 Toyota Granvia people-mover range, which like the continuing HiAce models relies only on the 2.8-litre turbo-diesel.
Prices have risen about $1000 across both the HiAce and the Granvia range. With the deletion of the petrol models on the van, the entry point has climbed to $44,230 plus on-road costs for the LWB diesel manual that produces 130kW/420Nm.
Automatic versions produce the same power but 450Nm of torque, while the HiAce Commuter bus is detuned to 120kW/420Nm.
The auto-only Toyota Granvia now starts at $65,150 plus ORCs.
Among the updates, all HiAce and Granvia models include Toyota Connected Services that brings a GPS tracking service to help find stolen vehicles, among other features.
HiAce models now get a large centre console with special paperwork storage in place of the previous console tray, and HiAce Commuter GL model grades gain an LED lamp inside the centre console, along with upgraded USB charge ports.
The Granvia picks up tinted rear windows, carpeted front floor mats and six USB-C ports for rear passengers (in place of USB-A ports).
As well as the deletion of the petrol engine, the Toyota HiAce is also only available now in a white exterior colour, with Quicksilver Mica, Light Blue Armour and Goldrush all discontinued.
