The dust has barely settled on the launch of the new-generation 2021 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series, but our attention was diverted this week to a heavily modified version of the previous 200 Series.
Built to apparently conquer the end of the world – or at least come pretty close to it – this 6x6 version of the LC200 comes courtesy of ArabGT in Dubai.
And according to the modification outfit, it’s all the work of Hussein Al Tamimi, who is said to have taken it upon himself to chop the rear-end off a LandCruiser 200 Series, add a third axle and transform it into a jacked-up, six-wheel pick-up truck.
ArabGT admits it’s not a proper 6x6 machine because the extra axle is just a drag-along and isn’t actually connected to the drivetrain, meaning it’s technically still a 4x4.
Still, the LandCruiser monster truck looks plenty ready for serious off-road action, aided by a winch, tow hooks, extra underbody protection and a seemingly endless amount of LED lighting.
A huge snorkel also features, as do fender flares, sequential rear indicators, electric-folding side steps and even soft-close doors for a bit of extra class.
The luxury doesn’t stop there either, with Al Tamimi also installing a Roll-Royce-inspired Starlight headliner and black/orange leather trim as far as the eye can see.
The custom interior also features a pair of LCD screens mounted to the back of the front head restraints, along with stowable food trays and another screen for the front passenger.
For the driver, the steering wheel has also been modified to feature a small screen along the top rim edge that displays the 5.7-litre V8 engine’s rpm and speed.
We’re not sure if a modified version of the LC300 is Al Tamimi’s next project, but we hope so…
