The third-generation Prius has an electric motor in addition to its sophisticated petrol engine, an advanced transmission and an additional battery pack to supply power for the electric motor. So it must be expensive to service, prospective buyers must be thinking.
It doesn't have to be, says Toyota. The company has extended its Toyota Service Advantage program to cover the new Prius. This program provides up to six standard services for the Prius over a period of three years or a range of 60,000km, whichever occurs first. Each service is capped at the same price, $130.
"More than 40 years of Toyota engineering and innovation has culminated in this third-generation Prius, which has had more than 1000 new patents filed against its nameplate," says Matthew Callachor, senior divisional manager for Toyota sales and marketing.
"However, owners pay the same price to service Prius as they would a Yaris or Corolla with Toyota Service Advantage.
"Our technicians are the most knowledgeable and best-equipped to service this more sophisticated Prius, which also features a new beltless petrol engine."
