Toyota has added a new 2022 Toyota RAV4 GR Sport to its European line-up, hinting a sportier version of Australia’s top-selling SUV could be heading this way as part of the updated series due in the final quarter.
To be introduced in right-hand drive markets like the UK later this year, the Toyota RAV4 GR Sport is a natural extension of the current crop of GR Sport models that include Yaris, Yaris Cross, Corolla, C-HR, HiLux and LandCruiser.
Sharpening up the drive, the GR Sport gets a suspension overhaul – including stiffer springs and new dampers – that’s said to provide a more engaging driving experience.
It also rides on new 19-inch alloy wheels with a five-spoke design and gloss black paint.
Other cosmetic highlights include piano black paint for the wheel-arch trim, side mirrors, sills and grille, while also up front there’s a new splitter finished in dark silver for the hybrid model and gunmetal grey for the plug-in hybrid available in Europe.
Within the cabin there’s a pair of front sports seats that are finished in fake suede and leather and are topped with GR-embossed head restraints.
Silver stitching on the seats, steering wheel and gear lever has also been added, while there’s new GR Sport mats to go with it too.
As standard, the new GR Sport adds a 10.5-inch infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel.
Toyota says European pricing of the RAV4 GR Sport will be released in the coming weeks ahead of first deliveries in the final quarter.
