Toyota has been crowned Australia’s most trusted automotive brand in the latest Roy Morgan Trust & Distrust rankings, outperforming every other car-maker despite minor movement in the overall brand standings.

Toyota was the highest-placed car-maker in Roy Morgan’s December 2025 rankings, reinforcing its long-standing reputation with Australian consumers built on reliability, consistency and brand familiarity.
While Toyota slipped one place to seventh overall, no other automotive brand ranked ahead of it, confirming its position as the nation’s most trusted car-maker across the past 12 months.
In contrast, Tesla dropped to sixth place among Australia's most distrusted brands, highlighting consumer concerns about the company.
Despite this, the electric vehicle (EV) specialist continues to face challenges as its presence on Australian roads grows.
The results highlight a clear divergence within the automotive sector, with trust clustering around established manufacturers that have decades-long local histories, while newer entrants – particularly those positioned as disruptive – continue to attract higher levels of scepticism.
Roy Morgan’s data suggests trust in automotive brands is being shaped less by novelty and more by consistency, accountability and proven ownership experience, particularly as buyers navigate rising vehicle prices and rapid technological change.
For Toyota, the result reinforces its strong position as Australia’s most trusted car brand at a time when confidence remains a decisive factor for buyers weighing up long-term ownership and reliability.
