Toyota reveals facelifted Prado

Large off-road wagon tweaked for October launch
Toyota's heavy-duty Prado SUV has been revised for the 2014 model year, bringing a host of changes to maintain the family off-roader's dominant position in its market segment.
Stylists have taken to the Prado for a bit of cosmetic work, with the redesigned front-end gaining new headlights with plunging LED riving lights and a more aggressive interpretation of the grille.
Inside, the interior has been substantially refreshed, with improved instrumentation, colour schemes, seat design and enhanced access to the third row of seating key improvements. Across the model range, different levels of trim will feature improved specifications.
The Prado’s suite of safety features is also expanded, with the new model gaining trailer sway control and an emergency brake signal.
At present, buyers have the option of a 4.0-litre petrol V6 or a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel.
The press release issued by Toyota follows the appearance of leaked images we reported last week. Toyota will launch the upgraded Prado locally in late October, when more details are expected to be disclosed.
