Toyota reveals more Camry Hybrid details
First look at restyled dashboard as production date draws closerThis is the first official look inside the Toyota Camry Hybrid , revealing its unique dashboard. The release of the image comes as the final stage of pilot pre-production of the first locally produced hybrid car approaches.
The most notable feature of the dash is Toyota's trademark blue lighting used on all Hybrid Synergy Drive models. The other major difference between the Hybrid dash and the regular Camry is the instant fuel consumption meter that replaces the rev counter.
Inside the fuel consumption meter there is a green 'Ready' light to let the driver know that the ignition is on even though the petrol engine doesn't start.
Toyota Australia sales and marketing boss David Buttner is confident that the Camry Hybrid will drop the current petrol Camry from 8.8L/100km to around 7.0, if not lower.
"Hybrid Camry will have substantially more power than the petrol-only car while using at least 20 per cent less fuel," Buttner said.
Pilot production of theCamry Hybrid begun in August ahead of full scale production which is scheduled for December. The first Camry Hybrids are due to hit Toyota showrooms in February next year.
