When Toyota announced its intention to bring the Rukus urban utility vehicle to Australia earlier this month, it did so with only a teaser image of the car. But thanks to Toyota's American youth brand Scion, we can reveal the Rukus in all its glory.
While we already knew the Rukus would be a re-badged version of the Scion xB, the 2011 model hadn't yet been unveiled in the States. Now it has and as you can see from these images, the car is most definitely pitched at the youth market.
The new for 2011 xB has been restyled to give it a more aggressive look. That means new front and rear bumpers, grille, headlights and taillights with angular lines. The front bumper in particular features large, stylised vents.
Inside, the car features redesigned front seats to improve comfort and a new grey cloth pattern finish. Scion has added height and reach adjustment for the steering. The interior also features a centre-mounted instrument cluster that houses a digital speedo, analogue tacho, fuel gauge and clock display.
Mechanically the new model xB is unchanged, meaning a 2.4-litre petrol engine producing 117Kw and 220Nm. It is mated to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox that drives the front wheels.
Full pricing and specifications for the local car haven't been released yet.
