It was fully exposed earlier this week, following leaked brochure images and a series of spy shots, but that hasn't stopped Toyota releasing the first teaser image of its all-new Prius ahead of its global online reveal next week.
The fourth-generation is now formally confirmed to appear online next Tuesday evening in the US (early Wednesday in Australia) ahead of its world public debut at the Frankfurt motor show the following week, and its Australian release early next year.
Toyota has provided no fresh information, but this single teaser image confirms the radical new look seen in previous leaked and spy shots, and the world's largest car-maker says it will bring "a striking new look, enhanced driving dynamics and impressive fuel economy".
"The 2016 Prius will challenge what you know about hybrids," says Toyota.
The world's best-selling hybrid has now notched up more than 3.5 million sales since 1997, with the Toyota and Lexus brands selling a combined total of eight million hybrids globally.
Most were sold in Japan with 3.89 million cars, followed by North America (2.79 million) and Europe (930,000), but just 77,500 have been sold in Australia including 33,250 Camry Hybrids and less than 20,000 Prius models.
