Toyota Australia has announced the availability of a factory sports body kit for its all-new 86 boxer coupe, which officially goes on sale today.
The comprehensive aero package for the range-topping 86 GTS is designed to improve handling stability by reducing aerodynamic drag and increasing downforce, while maintaining the sleek two-door’s slippery 0.27Cd drag coefficient. ??Priced at $3000 and available with both the standard manual 86 GTS Coupe ($35,490 plus on-road costs) and the automatic version (which adds a further $25000 to the price), it comprises new front and rear bumper skirts, side skirts and a large rear spoiler.
The front bumper skirt has vertical fins to control air entering the front grille, plus dual canards at 12-degree angles to optimise handling stability, while the side skirt design includes a rounded leading edge to assist airflow evacuation from the front wheel housing.
Meantime, the rear bumper skirt has a profile that projects horizontally to manage air turbulence from the front and assist in evacuating under-body airflow, while the large rear wing – which has a black centre section regardless of the vehicle’s body colour - features horizontal 'winglets' on the uprights to help generate downforce.
