Transmission upgrade for Pug 308 CC
Turbo petrol folding-roof 308 expected with six-speed automatic this yearBritish Peugeot buyers are now in the position to purchase the 308 CC convertible with a turbocharged petrol engine, driving through a six-speed automatic transmission.
It's not a major change, but the new box, which replaces a four-speeder, is accompanied by an increase in power for the engine. According to information from Peugeot's British arm, the engine now develops 116kW -- a significant gain on the 103kW output of the current engine. Torque gains to an even greater extent, up from 180 to 240Nm.
The transmission was bought in by Peugeot from Aisin AW and features sequential shifting in the Porsche Tiptronic style. It's claimed by Peugeot that the new transmission and engine combination will reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in combined-cycle testing by as much as seven per cent.
Richard Grant, National Marketing Manager for Peugeot Australia, confirmed with the Carsales Network this morning that the new variant will reach the local market, but did confirm that it would be sold in Australia sometime this year.
"We don't yet have word on when we'll have it here," he said. With right-hand drive examples already on sale in Britain, the vehicle can't be far away, but it may be delayed by Peugeot clearing existing stocks of the four-speed automatic variant currently on sale here.
