We recently brought you news of the steroidal Hennessey Venom GT ‘World’s Fastest Edition’ and now another US ‘car-maker’, Trion Supercars, has revealed an even more insane take on the hypercar.
Say hello to the Trion Nemesis, billed as a 2000-horsepower (1493kW) monster that will allegedly put the Bugatti Veyron to the sword and rival the Venom GT in the v-max race.
The press release is sketchy on tech details, but all we know for now is that it will be propelled by a twin-turbo V8 of unspecified displacement. It’s more than likely to be based on a GM block, but that’s just speculation at this stage.
The mid-mounted blown V8 sends drive to the rear wheels via an eight-speed sequential gearbox, and we imagine it will need a raft of sophisticated traction-control aids to ensure the rear hoops don’t go up in an expensive cloud of smoke.
As for Trion Supercars, it’s a new California-based start-up that was founded in 2012 to take the fight to the growing European hypercar brigade.
The Nemesis will be the company’s first offering, allegedly sprinting to 100km/h in 2.8 seconds on its way to a claimed top whack in excess of 270mph (434km/h).
The car features active aerodynamics to ensure it stays planted at the 400km/h-plus speeds it’s supposedly capable of doing.
In keeping with the coupe’s stealthy looks, it features a ‘Predator mode’ that, when engaged, modifies interior lighting, stiffens the suspension, lowers ride height and opens up baffles in the exhaust for full-noise drive-bys.
The bodywork will be fabricated from carbon-fibre, but there’s as yet no word on the chassis construction and suspension layout.
Its styling seems a melange of cues drawn from the likes of the Zenvo ST1, but its maker bills it as being “flawless from the front growl to the captivating tail configuration”.
Viewed from the back, there’s more than a hint of the McLaren P1, with the tail-lights serving to outline the rear fascia.
Inside, there will be ‘cutting-edge technology’, which we imagine will include virtual instrumentation and a head-up display, among other bells and whistles.
The press release claims it won’t be a compromised car with space for nothing more than a briefcase, as there’s allegedly enough room in the boot for golf clubs and luggage (but ‘luggage’ in this case might well mean nothing more than a soft overnight bag).
Trion Supercars says the Nemesis is currently in the earliest stages of development, but that the first prototype models will be built next month. No word as yet on pricing or an on-sale date.
We’re taking all this with a healthy grain (or cupful) of salt, but feel free to air your opinions on the brash American…
