The third round of the carsales sponsored TCR Australia e-racing series, the carsales ARG eSports Cup takes place this evening (Thursday, April 16).
Once again featuring Audi RS3 LMS TCR cars, Rd3 will feature two races, both at the Watkins Glen International circuit in the USA.
A total of 43 cars will front the starter including TCR frontrunners Garth Tander, Will Brown, John Martin and Nathan Morcom. Father and son Steven and Jett Johnson will also be racing, along with three wildcards including PlayStation gamer-racer, Matt Simmons.
BTCC champ and Rd2 winner, Briton Ash Sutton, is also expected to make his presence felt.
The TCR cars will compete on the ‘classic’ Watkins Glen layout without the bus stop chicane, and fans can expect to see huge drafting battles over the two races.
For the first time, the first 30-minute race will feature a compulsory pit stop, with drivers having the option of changing two or four tyres. Strategy will come into play, as four tyres will mean a longer stop.
The second race retains the same format as the opening two rounds, with the top half of the field reversing their finishing order from Race 1.
Round three of the carsales ARG eSports Cup race kicks off at 8pm AEST this evening with commentary by Aaron Noonan and TCR regular Tony D’Alberto. It will be broadcast live and free on the TCR Australia Facebook and YouTube channels.
