Local deliveries of the most powerful four-door 3 Series BMW to ever be offered Down Under have commenced.
The wolf-in-sheep's clothing of which we write is the 335i – a sedan sporting the new twin-turbo direct-injection 3.0-litre petrol six-cylinder engine that debuted in the recent launch of the 3 Series E93 coupe.
The 335i boasts 35kW and 100Nm more oomph than the 330i – previously the top 3 Series offering. Official peak power is 225kW with top torque pegged at 400Nm and delivered across a 3700rpm band almost from idle (1300-5000rpm).
According to BMW, the 335i sedan knocks 0.8 seconds off the 0-100 km/h sprint time of the already quick 330i Sedan. The official stat is 5.8sec.
That performance doesn't come cheap, however – the new 3 Series flagship is priced from $104,000.
The 335i gets the 'title' as the most powerful four-door 3 Series ever due to the fact BMW has never imported four-door M3s into Australia. The maker has however offered the iconic sportster in sedan variants in both Europe and the United States.
