The new 2024 Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid line-up has been bolstered with the addition of new 4 E-Hybrid and 4S E-Hybrid variants, both of which will be offered in Australia at a yet to be confirmed date.
Predictably positioned beneath the high-end Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid, the new plug-in hybrids offer less performance and standard equipment than the premium E-Hybrid, but comfortably one-up their respective predecessors in just about every measure.
Both versions feature a reworked 2.9-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 at the centre of their plug-in hybrid powertrains, with the base 4 E-Hybrid outputting a combined 346kW/650Nm compared to the 4S E-Hybrid’s 400kW/750Nm.
Key performance metrics for the base model include a 4.1-second 0-100km/h time and a top speed of 280km/h, while the punchier 4S E-Hybrid gets the job done in 3.7sec and will hit 290km/h.
“Compared to the previous generation, all Panamera E-Hybrid models offer a greater electric range, faster charging speed, better throttle response and better driving performance in almost all disciplines,” said Porsche of it’s new-generation Panamera hybrids.
The key contributor here beyond the tweaked internal combustion engine is an all-new 25.9kWh battery pack and a matching 140kW/450Nm electric motor integrated into the seven-speed PDK automatic transmission.
Porsche hasn’t provided any concrete range or efficiency figures for the new electrified Panameras yet, but it has promised “significantly increased electric range” compared to the previous models – reportedly up to 95km total.
Helping drivers extract the most from the powertrains are six distinct drive modes – E-Power, Hybrid Auto, E-Hold, E-Charge, Sport, Sport Plus – four of which are E-Hybrid-specific, while adaptive air suspension takes care of ride and handling.
The Porsche Active Ride set-up is optionally available, as per other Panamera variants, while headline gear on the 4 E-Hybrid includes 19-inch wheels, privacy glass, HD-Matrix LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, lane change assist, 14-way power adjustable and ventilated front seats with memory function, soft-close doors, a Bose surround sound system and digital radio.
Step up to the 4S E-Hybrid and buyers will be treated to bigger 20-inch hoops, red 10-piston front brake callipers and Comfort Access.
Porsche Cars Australia says it will announce local pricing, arrival timing and finer specification details at a later date, though you can rest assured the new model will be at least several grand more expensive than the models they replace.
