Off-road racer and quarry owner Paul Youman will continue a long-running connection with General Tire as he places his faith in the new Grabber MT tyre for use on his 1986 HiLux ute.
Queenslander Youman, with navigator Mitchell Marsden, is contesting this season’s “Tri Series” of the Australian Off-Road Racing Championship, as well as local events, in the 224kW Toyota.
The team has been using both the Grabber AT2 and the new Grabber MT tyres during the last 12 months, selecting either tyre for the type of terrain encountered. “Both have been outstanding,” he says.
"Your primary concerns in an off road racing tyre are puncture resistance and grip, and the Generals deliver both in spades. I know that gives us a competitive advantage and the confidence to go hard all the way.
"In fact, because of the experiences we've had with General Tires in competition, we now run them exclusively on our quarry vehicles too. General Tires are huge in the States.”
Although 41 years old Youman is a relative newcomer to the off-road scene, his racing career began in his teens, originally on speedway, before gravitating to drag and then mud racing.
According to Philip Hancock, Queensland Sales Manager, Continental Tyres of Australia, "The General Tire brand is steadily growing in Australia and through our partnership with Paul this season, we are directly reaching our target market.
“The feedback Paul provides us on the performance of the Grabber MT tyre is invaluable to us and our dealers."
