The world-famous and ultra-rare Pirelli Calendar will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2014.
Created by the world's best photographers, shooting the world's most beautiful models and locations, the Pirelli has become a much sought after collector's item. The 50th anniversary will be marked via "a media moment of celebration" in New York.
Tyre manufacturer Pirelli first released the calendar in 1964. It was designed to be "an exclusive, unique and unmistakable objet d'art".
For the 50th anniversary edition, two of the world's most famous fashion photographers, Patrick Demarchelier and Peter Lindbergh have teamed with worked with six women who have "significantly contributed to the history of the Calendar".
The models are Australia’s own Miranda Kerr, Karolina Kurkova, Helena Christensen, Alessandra Ambrosio, Isabeli Fontana and Alek Wek.
One factor that makes the Pirelli Calendar special is that it's never been for sale. "The Cal" as it's referred to internally is "distributed by Pirelli exclusively to the most eminent world figures in industry, finance, culture".
