TYRES: Rentsch duo wins sixth AORC
Father and son team takes out the 2013 Australian Off Road ChampionshipThe final round of the Australian Off Road Championship – the TJM ProLocker Lockyer 300 held in the Mulgowie area in Queensland – saw the father and son duo Shannon and Ian Rentsch take the overall honours as 2013 AORC Champions in their Nissan V6-powered Jimco buggy.
The Rentschs, like the second and third championship placegetters, wore BFGoodrich Tires and were full of praise for their choice of rubber.
“Our BFGoodrich Tires have been good all year; we have not had any issues at all with the tyres and they’ve hooked up really well for us, particularly this weekend.” Rentsch said after the event.
“The last event at Coffs Harbour and here at Lockyer Valley, the track is really hard on tyres. There are a lot of sharp rocks sticking out of the ground, so it’s definitely a bit of a concern. But the BFGoodrich Tires held up very well again which is exactly what we expected.”
Second championship placegetter Hayden Bentley and third-placed Matt Hanson also lauded the Goodrich tyres.
“The terrain is very tough here; harsh on the cars and on us trying to navigate through. There’s lots of trees, lots of rocks, but the car’s been running really well and the BFGoodrich Tires are holding up just as we knew they would,” said Hanson.
“It’s a tyre killer track out there, and the tyres from BFGoodrich are giving us really good grip, so I’m definitely happy we’ve got them on the car. When you look at the top three drivers in the Championship, with them all running BFGoodrich Tires, then that’s obviously saying something!”
