As the name suggests, Continental Tyres makes tyres for cars and motorcycles, footwear for your vehicle, if you will.
But now the German company has teamed up with Adidas to create footwear for your feet, trying its hand at creating a special rubber outsole to withstand the rigours of outdoor activity.
Called the SuperNova Riot, the "high-end" all-terrain shoe was developed after the Adidas Innovation Team put forward a proposal to Continental to create a rugged trainer that would offer improved levels of grip in wet.
After several months of testing and workshop activity, the final product was created and according to Continental the SuperNova Riot delivers "better grip in wet conditions than that of their competitors in the dry."
Bold claims, but if anyone is going to create a special ultra-grippy rubber compound for a shoe, a tyre company would have the tools to do it. Offering industry-leading traction performance.
Continental Tyres claims the shoes are "Designed for use on rock, wood, mud, road, and even ice and snow," and that the Continental outsole ensures "a 39 per cent steeper climb than any running shoe currently on the market."
The new ultra-grippy all-terrain show is available overseas in both men and women’s sizes and is easily identifiable with the Continental logo clearly marked on the sole and shoe hang tags.
At the time of writing the new Adidas/Continental is available only overseas, and there are no plans as yet to bringing the product to Australia, though ordering them online may become a possibility.
