Uber orders 100,000 S-Class Benzes
German report claims ride-sharing company has done a long-term deal with Daimler to supply autonomous limousinesGerman publication Manager Magazin says Uber has signed a deal with Daimler to supply at least 100,000 Mercedes-Benz S-Class vehicles, many of which will be able to drive themselves.
Published last Friday (March 18), the report cites unnamed sources at both companies and says the disruptive ride-sharing company is particularly interested in Daimler's fully autonomous driving technology, which is expected to be publicly available by around 2020 and should debut in the brand's flagship limousine.
Uber and Daimler are yet to confirm what would be a ground-breaking long-term global fleet deal. The German car-maker told motoring.com.au today that it will not comment on the report.
