Ultra-limited BAC Mono One revealed

Just three commemorative specials based on wild single-seat supercar are all said to bid farewell to first-gen Mono

Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) has announced it will celebrate the end of eight years' production of its single-seat Mono with a special run of three final cars.

The trio of final farewells to wild British supercar are each called the BAC Mono One and come painted in red, white and black – paying tribute to the company's three trademark colours.

Priced in the UK from a hefty £158,950 (A$305,000), the three commemorative specials get an exposed carbon-fibre body (from the waist down), plus bespoke carbon-fibre lightweight wheels.

Order one of the final Mono Ones and the British brand says it will throw in a unique racing helmet.

Under the rear boot lid the standard car's naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder, that's sourced from Ford, is once again combined with a six-speed sequential transmission and produces the same 227kW and 380Nm as the standard car.

That might not sound like much, but in the featherweight BAC that's good enough to launch the Mono One to 100km/h in just 2.7 seconds and onto an impressive 274km/h.

As well as revealing the three special edition Monos, BAC has also confirmed that next month at the Geneva motor show it will present its second-generation replacement for the Mono that is scheduled for production around Q3 of 2021.

Stay tuned, as BAC is expected to begin teasing, what's believed to be, an even lighter, faster track-bred single seater shortly.
