Updated 2023 Mazda2 more expensive

Entry price to Mazda’s light hatch passes $22,000 as latest update brings hikes of up to $1080

Mazda Australia has announced local pricing for the 2023 Mazda2, which will start from $22,290 plus on-road costs when the updated light hatch and sedan range arrives here in July.

The new starting figure marks an increase of $780 for the entry-level Pure hatch with manual transmission, while other model variants have copped a price hike of between $680 and $1080, depending on the variant.

See our price box below for full details, but the biggest increase belongs to the mid-range Pure SP hatch that now starts at $25,090 plus ORCs. The range tops out with the GT hatch and sedan at $27,490 plus ORCs apiece (+$880).

As reported in January when the update was revealed, the Mazda2 refresh includes revised styling, a shark’s fin antenna, expanded colour palette and interior trim upgrades.

The latter include new dash trim inserts for Pure and Pure SP models – plus a black roof filter for the SP – while the higher-grade Evolve and GT grades nab a black interior with contrasting red seat stitching and air-vent surrounds.

The GT also adds partial leather seat trim and a two-tone red and black dash treatment.

The current Mazda2 launched Down Under in 2014 and this latest update marks its third major refresh.
