The upgraded 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQA and EQB battery-electric SUVs are now entering Australian showrooms, priced from $84,900 and $89,100 plus on-road costs respectively.
Arriving eight months after their European launch in August 2023, the updated EVs bring sleeker exterior designs inspired by the bigger EQE and EQS SUVs and bigger batteries that provide for a longer driving range.
There’s also more standard equipment for the newly-named Mercedes-Benz EQA 250+ and EQB 250+ to go with the higher asking prices.
The plus signifies an upgrade from the previous 66.5kWh battery to a 70.5kWh power unit.
The result is an extra 54km of range for the base EQA (totalling 578km, NEDC) and 57km for the equivalent EQB (564km, NEDC).
Electric motor output for both the EQA and EQB 250+ models remains steady at 140kW/357Nm.
No mechanical changes have been made to the gutsier Mercedes-Benz EQA 350 4MATIC (215kW/520Nm), the EQB version of which has been dropped from our market for now.
Mercedes has also taken the opportunity to continue streamlining its equipment lists with the EQA and EQB updates, adding many frequently-specified options as standard gear for 2024.
Examples of this include AMG Line exterior styling, power-adjustable front seats with memory function, an ‘advanced’ sound system, panoramic sunroof and metallic paint.
The latest-generation sports steering wheel has also been added to the mix.
Carryover equipment includes tri-zone climate control, sports-style front seats, MBUX multimedia system, 64-colour ambient lighting, smartphone integration, wireless charging, digital radio, keyless entry/start, a powered tailgate, 360-degree camera, active parking assist, LED high-performance headlights with adaptive high beam assist, and 20-inch AMG alloy wheels.
Headline equipment on the updated EQA 350 4MATIC includes all the above as well as a Burmester 3D surround-sound system, head-up display, MBUX Interior Assist, Guard 360-degree vehicle protection and driving assistance package.
Sweetening the updated models further is a complimentary Chargefox subscription – three years for the EQA and 12 months for EQB.
