The updated 2026 Ford F-150 has finally been detailed for Australia, including price increases, updated design, additional features and a new Platinum flagship.
The biggest news here is the addition of the Platinum trim at the top of Ford’s local full-sized truck tree, which carsales first unearthed and reported back in May.
Easily the dearest F-150 variant offered here (officially) to date, the $163,950 Platinum is headlined by its black and smoked metal accents, automated power side steps, a multi-folding hard tonneau cover, bespoke suspension tune and continuously controlled dampers, black onyx leather upholstery and massaging, fold-flat sleeping front seats.
Other highlights shared with the lesser Lariat includes a 12-inch infotainment interface, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, LED projector headlights, Pro Access (swinging) and powered tailgate, a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system and climate-controlled front seat heating/ventilation.
Justifying the XLT’s less-than-subtle price increase is the addition of LED reflector headlamps and fog lamps, amber indicators, a 360-degree camera, tub lighting, a 12V port in the tub and the aforementioned 12-inch displays.
All F-150s score new grille, headlight, tail light and alloy wheel designs, but no changes have been made to the twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine (298kW/678Nm) or the 10-speed automatic transmission it operates through.
The same can’t be said for the GVM, GCM and payloads however which have all been increased to varying degrees; some by close to 100kg (payload):
Variant | GVM | GCM | Kerb Weight | Payload |
XLT SWB | 3315kg | 7365kg | 2462kg | 853kg |
XLT LWB | 3360kg | 7410kg | 2482kg | 878kg |
Lariat SWB | 3315kg | 7365kg | 2546kg | 769kg |
Lariat LWB | 3360kg | 7410kg | 2566kg | 794kg |
Platinum SWB | 3315kg | 7365kg | 2611kg | 704kg |
Platinum LWB | 3360kg | 7410kg | 2636kg | 724kg |
Ford has sold 549 F-150s so far this year ending September, making it the slowest-selling model in its segment behind the RAM 1500 (2112), Chevrolet Silverado (1626) and Toyota Tundra (618).
Orders for the new model are being taken now Ford dealers ahead of the first examples arriving Down Under “early” next year.
