The smallest car in the Mercedes-Benz range has been updated for the new model year and is now on sale in Australia.
As we reported last month, the A-Class has risen in price, but packs new features in a mildly facelifted body to reflect that. Also on offer is a new option pack – the Motorsport Edition – with cosmetic changes and coordinating 'Petronas Green' paint in tribute to the manufacturer's F1 team and its lead sponsor.
Mercedes-Benz Australia unveiled the upgraded A-Class range – including the new all-wheel drive A 250 Sport 4Matic and the Mercedes-AMG A 45 4Matic with its tricky new front diff – at a one-day media event at the Broadford Motorcycle Complex in Victoria.
Not merely limited to some track work, the launch provided an opportunity for local journalists to assess the A 200, A 250 and A 45 on the roads around Broadford as well. Missing from the selection of cars were the entry-level A 180 and the diesel-powered A 200 d.
"The progressive new A-Class continues the success story of our compact car range," says Horst von Sanden, CEO and MD for Mercedes-Benz Cars Australia/Pacific.
"Since 2013, the A-Class model range has enhanced the youthful appeal of our brand, and been one of the real highlights in our product offensive. This latest generation delivers even greater comfort and value to our customers."
We'll be bringing you a review of the vehicles tested once the media embargo lifts, on Friday morning. Stay tuned.
