Lexus Australia has released pricing and specs for its updated 2022 Lexus UX, with the premium compact SUV now starting from $46,085 plus on-road costs.
That’s $1640 higher than before and sets the tone for the rest of the range as all variants have copped an increase of between $1600 and $1895.
Due in local showrooms from mid-September, all new Lexus UX models will brandish a bigger 12.3-inch touch-screen infotainment system (up from 10.3-inch) with voice control, wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, DAB+ digital radio, satellite navigation and two extra speakers for the entry-level sound system (now up to 10).
Lexus Connected Services is the other big-ticket item added to the UX range, which as reported last week with the latest 2022 Lexus ES brings Lexus Multimedia Connect (cloud-based navigation and data), Lexus Remote Connect (remote vehicle function control) and Lexus Status Connect (remote vehicle welfare).
Smaller additions include new ‘Washi paper’ instrument trim and stitching, a shark fin antenna and a fuel-saving automatic engine idle-stop system for the entry-level front-drive Lexus UX 200.
Sports Luxury variants score a new ‘kagome’ upholstery perforation pattern that Lexus says is based on traditional Japanese basket weaving used “since ancient times to ward off evil”.
The more athletic F Sport variants have been treated to a new adaptive suspension tune, new rear performance dampers, extra underbody stiffening and a drive mode select system comprising Eco, Normal, Sport S, Sport S+ and Custom.
As before, there’ll be a series of enhancement packages across the range.
Twelve different exterior colours and seven different cabin colour schemes can also be optioned, depending on the variant.
All models offer Sonic Quartz, Titanium, Sonic Chrome, Onyx, Graphite Black, Caliente, Khaki Metal and Celestial Blue exterior colours, while a new Sonic Chrome is available on Luxury and Sport Luxury models.
F Sport versions have exclusive Carnelian, White Nova and Cobalt Mica paint options, replacing Sonic Quartz and Celestial Blue.
The cabin colour schemes comprise: Black and White Ash (Luxury); Rich Cream and Hazel (Sports Luxury); and F Sport Black, White and Flare Red (F Sport). The two-tone Cobalt hue has been axed.
No changes have been made to powertrains save for the stop-start system on the UX 200. Lexus says the feature has reduced fuel consumption with the 126kW/200Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine, but is yet to provide details.
The UX 250h uses a 107kW/188Nm 2.0-litre petrol-electric hybrid powertrain that combines with an 80kW/202Nm electric motor. It also offers an all-wheel drive layout, in addition to front-wheel drive.
There’s no word yet on upgrades for the electric Lexus UX 300e.
