Updated Mazda CX-3 coming soon

Mazda’s popular light SUV receives mild update with extra safety device and new colour options

The Mazda CX-3 has received a minor update that adds a rear seat belt reminder to all models and introduces new exterior colour options.

Rolling into showrooms from December, the 2022 Mazda CX-3 picks up the safety device for rear seat passengers to keep it in line with Australian Design Rule (ADR) regulations.

The aesthetic treatments include a new paint colour, Platinum Quartz metallic, while the top three of the six available model grades – sTouring, Akari and Akari LE – now feature premium gloss black body accents.

These black highlights appear on the wheel-arches, side skirts and along the front and rear bumper.

More eye candy for the Mazda CX-3 en route

Nine exterior colours are now offered across the range, with Platinum Quartz joining four other metallic hues (Polymetal Grey, Soul Red Crystal, Machine Grey and Ceramic) and four micas (Deep Crystal Blue, Eternal Blue, Jet Black and Snowflake White pearl mica).

Mazda CX-3 range review

Mazda Australia is yet to confirm pricing for the updated 2022 Mazda CX-3, but there shouldn’t be much difference to the MY21 range that starts at $22,890 plus on-road costs and tops out at $38,690 plus ORCs.

The latest update comes just nine months after the CX-3 benefited from a substantial tech upgrade.

There are no mechanical changes which means the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (110kW/195Nm) remains in service, available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Most variants are front-drive, but AWD is also available.

All models come with power-folding exterior mirrors, an electric park brake with auto hold function, an 8.0-inch touch-screen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital radio tuner, keyless push-button start, rear parking sensors and autonomous emergency braking.

The CX-3 is Australia's top-selling compact SUV

Up-spec sTouring models add 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lights all round, plus traffic sign recognition and lane departure warning.

Akari models have a sunroof, power-adjustable driver’s seat, adaptive headlights, radar cruise control and leather upholstery, while Akari LE adds unique 18-inch alloy wheels, dark russet Nappa leather upholstery and white metal interior accents.

All models are backed by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and five years’ roadside assistance.

The Mazda CX-3 is currently the top-selling light SUV in Australia, its 10,679 sales to the end of August accounting for 28.8 per cent of the segment. It almost doubles the second-placed Toyota Yaris Cross, with 14.6 per cent segment share (5406 sales).
