The Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series has been upgraded for the first time since it was introduced, with the new 2025 versions set to arrive in the second quarter of next year donning newer interior tech, more safety kit and extra equipment.
Pricing details will be announced closer to the new model’s arrival, however it’s worth noting the upgrades will not be complemented by a refreshed exterior design or any mechanical enhancements.
Heading the update is a new infotainment system spanning eight inches in the GX and GXL (down from nine) and 12.3 inches in the VX, Sahara, GR Sport and Sahara ZX, with all variants now coming with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected navigation and connected services.
More welcome tech includes new digital instrument clusters across the board (seven inches for the GX and GXL, 12.3 for the rest) while the GX has been treated to electric steering column adjustment, LED front lighting and guidelines for the reversing camera.
The GXL meantime gets suede-like fabric upholstery, eight-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat, four-zone climate control and a centre cool box, while the VX scores eight-way power adjustment for the passenger seat, a gesture-controlled tailgate and an HDMI port that replaces the old CD/DVD player.
New tailgate puddle lamps have been added to the GR Sport off-road hero.
On the safety front, includes lane-keep assist and emergency steering assist has been added to the spec sheet of every variant while the GXL and above nab safe-exit assist – plus rear-cross traffic alert where it wasn’t already applied.
As mentioned above, no changes have been made to the 300 Series’ 3.3-litre twin-turbo-diesel V6 (227kW/700Nm) or the 10-speed automatic transmission it’s paired to.
Odds are the upgrades outlined above will inflate the LandCruiser’s current pricing which opens from $96,991 plus on-road costs and tops out at $145,791.
