VE V8s, Statesman recall

Holden has recalled more than 1300 of its new V8 Commodore, Statesman and Caprice cars to fix a fuel-line problem.

The company said there was a chance of a misalignment occurring during the hose-assembly process at one of its supplier plants that could result in a fuel leak.

"This could potentially result in a tear in the fuel hose of the V8 VE Commodores and WM Statesman and Caprice vehicles," said Holden spokeswoman Maya Donevska.

"There have been no customer reports of this happening. The issue was picked up during routine internal checks.

"As a preventive measure and to guarantee the safety of our customers, Holden has issued a recall on these vehicles."

Holden said the recall would affect 1379 vehicles in Australia, built in July and August this year.

Commodore V6 models were not affected.

Customers would be sent a letter advising them of recall.

A notice on the Product Recalls Australia website said that in extreme cases the vehicles affected might develop a fuel leak and a fuel smell might become evident to the driver.

"A condition can occur where a fuel hose that connects the main fuel line and the injector rail in the engine bay may have been manufactured incorrectly," the notice said.

"If damaged, the location may not be visible as it is covered by an outer sleeve band."
