A new feature available to carsales.com.au customers takes some of the pain out of selling the carEveryone recognises it as a truism – know your product. It's a surefire way to convince a vehicle buyer you can be trusted, because you know what you're talking about.
But what if you're not a professional sales person? You are, in fact, the parent/partner/friend or colleague of someone who wants to sell their dog-eared Corolla – and they don't have a clue where to start.
They've approached you – an acknowledged petrol head – to help fill out the on-line form detailing what the car for sale is and what it has. Where do you start though? You know all there is to know about Commodore SS or Subaru WRX, but Corollas? Not so much.
Now, carsales.com.au has a facility that may be of assistance. If the Corolla has been sold through Australia's premier automotive site in the past, that selling history is available to help build up a word picture of the Corolla. Simply type in the registration number – or the Vehicle Identification Number, if 17-character gobbledygook doesn't put you off – and the carsales.com.au database will dig out all the specification information you need and populate all the tech-spec fields for you.
Much to your surprise, you discover that the Corolla is an AE94 Seca Ultima 1.6 with auto transmission – because an earlier vendor has done all the hard work for you, listing the car's details in full.
It's car selling made that much easier.
