The VF Holden Commodore might be long gone from production but you can still add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
A new plug-in module developed by Walkinshaw Performance is now available for the VFI Commodore platform (2013-15), including models developed and sold by HSV, another Walkinshaw Auto Group business that is now basically defunct because of the axing of Holden by General Motors.

The cost of the unit is $1199 plus installation.
The module is also being developed for the VFII Holden Commodore (2015-17), with introduction likely in the second quarter of 2022.
“We still want to support our past customer base and one of the things we are hearing a lot on is about is Apple CarPlay,” said Walkinshaw Performance managing engineer David Kermond.

“The module sits underneath the glove box where you don’t see it. All the trim remains the same, the head unit remains the same and it mirrors that image up on to the screen and gives you full CarPlay access.”
Smartphone connection can be Wi-Fi or wired, and functions such as voice control for making calls and sending texts is part of the package.
