Alfa Romeo has released a new video of its 307km/h Giulia QV doing hot, very sideways, laps of the Italian car-maker’s Balocco proving ground.
The video, which was made with help from 360-degree cameras, has been created to demonstrate the driver-centric cabin and is said by Alfa to prove “the driver is always at the centre of the universe; at the centre of design, of ergonomy and of driving emotions”.
Hyperbole aside, the Giulia range has already been confirmed for an Australian launch in Q1 2017 -- six months later than originally planned after development of the Mercedes C-Class rival hit delays.
Spearheading the Giulia range Down Under will be the 368kW Ferrari-developed 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 powered QV that the test driver enthusiastically demonstrates is well-balanced and easy to drift and catch with liberal throttle applications.
Alfa Romeo has yet to confirm what other engines will join the Giulia line-up when it arrives but a 132kW version of FCA’s 2.2-litre JTDM turbo-diesel is a likely starter, as are all three variants of the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four (147, 184 and 206kW).
Pricing for the range is expected to begin at around $55,000 for the entry-level 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, stretching to as much as $140,000 for the Mercedes-AMG C63-rivalling Giulia QV.
