Dodge's endless teasing campaign for its Challenger SRT Demon has continued with the latest revelation that its Hellcat-based muscle car will have the largest cold air intake ever installed on a production car.
To prove it, the US car-maker has released yet another video of the still-to-be-fully revealed Demon that focuses on what Dodge calls its "Air Grabber" intake.
Claimed to measure in at 45 square inches (290cm²), the huge bonnet intake is supplemented by two more "Air Catcher" headlights, such is the appetite for the supercharged 6.2-litre V8.
Combined, Dodge claims a significant increase in airflow compared to the Hellcat with the added benefit of the huge volume of air reaching the Hemi V8 actually cooling the inlet air temperature by more than 1C.
The colder, more dense air is also claimed to boost power.
How much that increases total power over the Hellcat, Dodge has yet to reveal, but it's thought the Demon could produce as much as 550kW/1000Nm.
With that level of power, plus a weight saving of more than 100kg, the Demon should be able to hit 100km/h in less than three seconds – 0.6 seconds quicker than the Hellcat.
With the standard, stickier drag tyres the Dodge muscle has had developed for it, the new Demon could complete the 0-100km/h sprint in a staggering 2.7 seconds.
Top speed, meanwhile, is expected to be more than 330km/h.
Sadly for us, the new Demon will never be sold Down Under on account of a lack of right-hand drive. That's something, it's hoped, the next-generation Challenger will fix when it goes on sale in 2018.
In the US, it's thought the Dodge Demon will sell for around $US80,000 ($A100,000).
