VIDEO: Faraday Future teases world's fastest SUV

Fledgling pure-electric car maker drag race video suggests new SUV will have Ferrari-beating performance

Faraday Future has released a teaser for a new video on its Youtube channel that suggests its all-new SUV will outpace a Bentley Bentayga, Tesla Model X and, even, a Ferrari 488 GTB when it goes on sale in 2018.

If true, the Chinese-backed US-based car-maker's first offering will hit 100km/h, from standstill, in around 2.6 seconds making it comfortably the fastest-ever SUV, regardless of its pure-electric powertrain.

Despite the video, little is still known about how the firm's first car is shaping up.

All we know is the pure-electric SUV has been styled by former BMW i3 and i8 designer, Richard Kim.

It's also very likely the new Tesla Model X-rival will come with a powerful 100kWh lithium ion battery that will provide for a range of at least 500km.

All will be revealed when the teasing stops and the, still to be named, SUV will be unveiled at the 2017 CES show in Las Vegas. Faraday Future's first car should be on sale by 2018.
